My Dad Can Make Anything

My father is the perfect example of "it's never too late to learn something new." He'll be 76 in June, and just about 10 years ago, started woodworking. He'd made a few shelves before, but nothing like what he does now. With the exception of the couch and chairs, and one bookcase, all the furniture I own is made by my dad. The picture is of a tray he made for me years ago, all the pieces cut out and put together like a puzzle. He also made the shaker baskets, (though he said those were an awful pain to make) and the hutch they're sitting on, and the mirror above it.
However, what I have is nothing compared to what he's done for my in-laws. They have a huge old house, and when I first met my ex-husband in 1991, it was a wreck (they also had 9 destructive children). Now, I call it the Oak Palace. He's redone the entire place, made most of the furniture and cupboards...it's incredible. The next time I'm there I'll bring the camera.
