Have Any Of You Read This?

What's the deal with it, anyway? All I know is Oprah says it'll change your life.

What is it? I can't see. Not that I have anything against Oprah or anything, but I don't pay much attention to her forum. It gets kinda preachy. Besides, I don't want to change my life, just the people in it. LOL! JK!! No seriously, what is the book? Now I'm curious.

Oh yeah, I have heard about it. Its supposed to be all these different people talking about the secrets of living...or something to that effect. Wasn't it Kare, over at Old Lady Kay, that was talking about it last month?
I personally can't stand half the books Oprah picks for her club but this one is supposed to be different. It's on my list of things to look over the next time I am at the book store.

I have mine on order. I think it's all about finding inner peace and how you can change yourself and your feelings towards other people. ( you can change yourself but not others unfortunately ) Blah blah blah, that's the jist of it I think. Have a good weekend.

Here's me putting my librarian hat on...there are like 85 jillion people requesting that book at the library so I had to do some research on it to see what all the fuss is about. It's a "positive thinking" book. One of the things it talks about is a woman who thinks herself out of her cancer illness, and doesn't need medical science at all. The author of the book also suggests that if you are wanting to lose weight, you should just stop looking at fat people, since seeing them poisons your mind. Eeek, is all I have to say. Here's a short article from MSNBC about it: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17314883/site/newsweek/

The book, DVD & website are a $$$ making vehicle for the author. She claims to have found the secret to HAPPINESS, SUCCESS & WEALTH… She admits on 'The Secret' website
http://thesecret.tv/behind-the-secret.html
that her theory is based on a book written by Wallace, D Wattles called 'The Science of Getting Rich'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_Wattles
Wallace's book can be found in its entirety for free on the net.
http://wallacewattles.wwwhubs.com/rich.htm
The book is very short; I think less than 50 pages. The reading is a bit dry, the language is old fashion however the theory is sound, mostly basic common sense.
However, more work than most people will be willing to go through...

I'm curious about this book as well....I read an article in People magazine about it and apparently it's basically the power of positive thinking...
