The New Wally Lamb Book Is Excellent!
As with "She's Come Undone" and "I Know This Much Is True," all kinds of awful things happen until you want to slit your own wrists. But his endings are always very uplifting, and it is in the new book, too.

ps: how in the hell do you have time to read this time of year? Shit. I have huge amounts of shopping to do still, only 2 presents are wrapped and I have to get ready to host Christmas eve and Christmas day.
I'm not sure how I found time to read it.
