Dorchester, NB

In the spirit of "exploring your backyard," Peter and I drove out to Dorchester yesterday, about 20 minutes from Moncton.
Dorchester's claim to fame is being home to the Dorchester federal penitentiary.
We went to the historic Thomas Keillor house and saw some lovely house and antique porn. They had some beautiful hooked rugs, and look at that old scrap pineapple quilt. I've always wanted to make one just like it.

Wow - I don't have my glasses on as it's only 6:02am, so I had to do a double take when I saw "antique porn"...Then I went to your next blog... ;o) Now I get it.
Looks like you two had a wonderful time. I love going to historical places as well - Ever been to Casa Loma in Toronto?

Just love when you do some exploring. Beautiful. We have one house in the next town over that I think you will love. Maybe if it cools down I go over and get some shots.

Ha ha! The term has caused some confusion before. I lived in TO for three years and never went to Casa Loma! I also never went to Canada's Wonderland or Phantom. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

And Brandy, you should definitely do that! I know nothing about Illinois, except that it's where Oprah lives.

Oh, "Mayberry Days!" I remember puking on the Tilt-A-Whirl there as a lad. It was the only ride, so I went on it six times (now it only takes about 1.5 times to make me yak. Shut up).

I think DH is off to some kind of Shower (poorly disguised Stagette Party)this weekend, so maybe I will return to Mayberry and I'll buy you an Ale at "Gritty's"

Arrgh, a trip to Mayberry ever once in a while is like a trip to the zoo, but I can't fathom a reason to ever go to Petit-Bear.
