Remembrance Day

This is the book that, for me, made war more than just something in history class for the first time.
It's one of the Anne of Green Gables books. In it, Anne's children are young adults when the Great War breaks out. Her sons go off to fight, and the girls keep the home fires burning.

I was a huge fan of the Anne books as a kid, and I loved this book as well. It made me sad, but I also think it was the first book that made me really think about the war and war in general.

Some day I need to get out to PEI and enjoy the countryside where all those books take place.
