Crazy Cleaning Desperate Housewife Narrator Here!

DH endeavors to have her abode in a state of Martha-like cleanliness.
She has her Martha homekeeping book, her Cheryl Mendelson, her Beeton's, and she very much enjoys feeling superior to the animals Kim and Aggie have to deal with on "How Clean Is Your House."
And, while she does relatively okay at the regular everyday chores, life with a highly energetic (and destructive) three year old and a full time job just doesn't leave much time for cleaning anything that's not going to grow potentially fatal bacteria.
However, every year or so, I rear my OCD head, and give DH an irresistable urge to clean everything in sight. Tonight, I made her clean almost every single inch of her bedroom. It was in a simply deplorable state. There was a coating of dust everywhere. The windows ... oy! I forced her to scrub the blinds in the bathtub, dust everything in the room, including the baseboards, wash the windows, windex the glass in the picture frames, and even vacuum the walls.
Now, a mere three hours later, her bedroom is a sparkling grown-up haven, free of dust, clutter, and toys, with sparkling glass and windows and gleaming wood.
Of course, the tea on the tray is just for show. Tea in bed?! The potential for disaster is too great. DH is too tired to do anything except fall into her tidy bed anyway.

That is a cosy and clean bedroom you have there. Great-looking furniture too. A sunday well-spent!
I can understand the difficulty in keeping a house with kids passably tidy. With 2 crazy kids at home, I am at my wit's end. But the Boy looks sober enough to tidy up after him or am I mistaken?

Excuse me while I go laugh hysterically for a few minutes, Ladybird.
No, I'm afraid the Boy is a one-boy wrecking machine, capable of destroying a clean room in two minutes or less.
I do the bulk of my housework after he's in bed or at his father's.

Nice job. You have the best looking furniture I have ever seen. If I remember right, your dad is responsible for some of it. He is so talented. Okay maybe I could take some inspiration from you and get my arse in gear. Spring is really giving it's best go here, for the last 4 days it has been nice and warm, we're losing lot's of snow. Time to open a window or two during the day and get going on this "Spring" cleaning. Have a good day.

I love how the book coordinates with the teacup!

I love Cheryl Mendelson's book. You should try her novels. they're set in Morningside Heights in NYC. I liked the first one...

And I don't actually do anything she recommends...just read the cleaning book and admire her research.

I took one look at your pretty, clean room and about started to cry. I have been going through stuff and have created a huge mess in my bedroom. I really need to get with the program and get the job done. It's spring...I should have another energy boost soon, right.
