Desperately Out Of Shape Housewife No More, Damnit!
Normal-sized girls
+ finally cluing in that music makes exercise fun
= One Desperate Housewife who has started running! And it's astonishingly fun!
Saturday I took a big leap and registered for the CIBC Run For the Cure in October. I'm sure I'll be able to run 5k by then (I hope). But my big goal is to run the 10k in the Bluenose Marathon in Halifax next spring.
A piddling accomplishment for many, but this is a HUGE deal for me.
Go me!

This is a huge deal for ANYONE. Way to go!
You are brave! I can walk forever...but rinning is another story. My knee hates me when I run.
You go girl!
Good for you! This is HUGE deal for anyone.
Keep in mind for your Bluenose Marathon training the Halifax race route is somewhat hilly. There are several killer hills.... one near the beginning and the worst is Maple Street, known to Blue Nose Marathoners as Giv'er Hill, a steep incline of about 1 km in length on the Dartmouth side.

Yay! Go DH, go DH, GO!!!!
What Darlene said! Go DH, go!!
Thanks Dar and Sue!
Netter: I tried a few times over the years and always got shin splints and blisters. This time I read up on running, and am loosely following a beginner's plan. I also tossed my $30 Walmart sneakers and went to The Running Room and got fitted for a pair of fancy-ass running shoes. I hadn't realized they made a such a difference. And, I found out that cotton socks give you blisters! I'm not having any problems this time! It's amazing what a little knowledge can do for you!
Paula: Hills? Gulp!
