Not As Heart-Wrenching As "The Kite Runner"

The oldest member of my book club, a very sweet lady in her late 70s, chose this book. I was so traumatized by the author's other book, "The Kite Runner," that I actually swore at her. I said, "Jesus Christ, Simone, what the hell are you trying to do to us?"
It's still pretty depressing, but no where near as bad as Kite Runner, with the child gang rape and such.

Poor Simone. LOL I can just visualize you giving her shit at the book club.

I could barely stomach this book because of the "crimes against women" thing. I couldn't find anything "splendid" about it. Subject matter aside, the author does write well and certainly does find compelling topics.

I think I won't read The Kite Runner. wow.

Have you hooked anything lately or are you solely working on your cross stitch? How's everyone out there? I've been kind of awol lately but hope to get blogging again soon.
Hi to Peter.

Hi Nanny, I mean Kare!

I suppose the birth of your first grandchild is a good enough reason to be awol. ;) Congrats again!

I'm cross stitching and working on not one, but two quilt tops. But I know I'll get the rug hooking bug again. I really want that kit of the woman in front of the house by Deanne Fitzpatrick.
