Nostalgia (I Heart The Eighties)

I'm listening to "New Song" by Howard Jones. I ownloaded-day it off the et-nay about 20 minutes ago. It's the first time I've heard it in years and years. I was around 13 when it came out, the age when the music you listen to is imprinted on you for life. I used to watch the video on "Friday Night Videos," and "All Hit Videos" with Chuck Foster out of Bangor, and that show with Geoff Banks out of Halifax. There was no MuchMusic then, and you had to have one of those big-ass satellite dishes bigger than your house to pull in MTV. So you only got to see videos on the weekend.

It was very cool watching with my two best friends, Wendy and Tina. But it was the coolest being up at 1:30am dancing around the living room all by myself, while my parents were upstairs in bed asleep. It's all coming back right now, listening to Howard.

I never thought I would ever be happy to feel like I did in junior high.

I remember when MTV was actually about music videos, instead of these insane reality television shows!
they are coming back though, I see it in the tapered leg jeans! hahaha

I heard perms were coming back! Not on my head! I got 3 a year between the ages of 13 and 20. That's enough for a lifetime.

"Wouldn't it be good to be on your side. The grass is always greener over there...." Remember that one by Howard Jones?
And , Yah, I did the perm thing like that too. Trivia: Do you know the very first video that was ever played on Much Music?
I'll check back and see if anyone knows.

"Wouldn't It Be Good"...I didn't like that song...it wasn't Howard's though, it was a Nick someone.
The first video on MuchMusic...shit! I know I was watching! I remember JD Roberts and Christopher Ward breaking through the blue screen. I can't remember!

Nick Kershaw. That's the guy. Hilarious. I was told that the first video was "Video Killed the Radio Star". Does that sound right? My 'source' swears its right.
ps: my husband is from New Brunswick. such a beautiful province.
