The Exorcist was great - I think anything that could actually happen is more creepy than anything. The Ring scared the bejesus out of me - actually really only one part that lasted a split second - where they flashed to that girl in the closet. I even started to cry. My daughter has it right, though - there's nothing scarier than something that can get you in your sleep - Nightmare on Elm Street. Freddy Krueger in your dreams is just bad.
Willy Wonka. Honest Injun.
Those F'in Oompa Loompas are scary when you're 6. (and I thought they killed those kids that fell in the chocolate river etc)
I can't watch anything scary...even those pathetic old black and white creature feature movies. My Sister forced me to watch Nightmare on Elm Street because she loved Johnny Depp...I have never recovered from that.
The Exorcist about sums it up for me, only watched it once and that was to much. Actually Carrie never really scared me, but when you think the movie is over, they show a grave and a hand comes up out of it. Thought I had died.
Oh, I had to comment again - When The Blair Witch project came out, my daughter & I went to see it at the theatre. We were under the impression that it was actually real, so you're under a complete different mindset when you see the movie. By the end of it, we were literally wrapped around each other.
Not a fan of horror or scary movies I avoid them at all costs... however I remember seeing part of one movie which sticks in my mind as super creepy. Was a TV movie called 'IT' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099864/The movie was based on the horror novel 'IT' by Stephen King.

It scared the bezeeus out of me. I hate clowns...
BTW you may like the book 'Ghosts in the Snow' by Tamara Siler Jones http://tapestry.typepad.com/books_music/2004/12/_ghosts_in_the_.html
I had to read parts of this book with my eyes closed. Really.
The Blair Witch Project! I'd almost forgotten! It scared the pants off me in the theatre. But I got it when it came out on video, and it wasn't the same at all.
Silence of the Lambs scared me. I think because there are really people like that out there. Ghosty, monstery stuff doesn't get me as much.
