Pre-K is Okay

The Boy likes pre-k! This is his third day, and each morning he's cried and clung desperately to me and had to be pried off, but he's been fine within 2 minutes of my leaving. He does it fairly often when I have to leave him somewhere, and always stops as soon as I leave, as a way to torture me, I believe. I fully intend to act the same way when someday he tries to put me in a nursing home.
Look what he did at school! He glued shapes to a piece of construction paper! He also traced numbers and letters! Mommy is pretty impressed.

They do like to torture you. But - wait - one day you'll drop him off and he'll just run off without even glancing at you and that will be worse. Not to depress you or anything. Just remember when that happens it really means you're doing your job right.

Hi Jeannie!

I just wanted to check in and say hi. Bloglines has made me into a complete sloth and I have been reading your blog, but have been far too lazy to comment. Your story about the boy today is hilarious. I'm sure it will get easier for him to leave you soon. :-)

Hope you're well.

You too, Rosie! Hope you make out well next month. I think you should stay home and decorate and knit, and let Mr Rosie support you!

Welcome to the years(and years) of homemade stuff! I've kept it all - One year my daughter made me a 'strawberry' brooch for Mother's day. It kinda looked like a big 2 pound red & green lump, and my son made me a necklace that ended up looking like the same one Wilma Flinstone wears. Amd they both weighed a ton! (sometimes you're gonna wonder what in the heck the teacher was thinking) I loved them all & I wore them proudly. I miss that. Okay - I'm pms-ing so I have to go cry now.

Please tell me that the measuring cup is something you put there and not something he glued to the paper too...

Seriously, the shape-gluing skills are formidable.

He did a great job.
Number and letters, too! That's pretty good.
Has he hit the "cutting everything up in sight with scissors" phase yet? Then it's tape. Tape everywhere. That's a fun one. Oh, DH, you have so much to look forward to! I'm not being sarcastic here at all. I'm sort of sniffly over it like Darlene.
Enjoy it.

Tape! Jesus, the tape!

He already tapes anything and everything together.

The Art Festival begins! Love the out of box thinking with the measureing cup!

My son did the crying thing too but now at 17, he couldn't care less when I leave...in fact, he'd prefer it. Sigh.

I see my friend Tami is expanding her blogging realm....very good. I've known her since high school, she's very funny and rarly bites.

Just think of all the fun artwork you are going to be getting. I love anything involving glue and colors. I have all the jewelry that the kids have made me over the years and a ton of pictures. It's hard for me to part with them.
