I Hate This Statue

It offends my sensibilities. You can see it from the highway near Truro, Nova Scotia. It's supposed to be the native god Glooscap. It is 40 feet high, appears to be made of plastic, and is truly Godawful. The orange flame of his torch mightily increases the tackiness of it, and from the highway, he looks like he's about to set the building next to him on fire.

And then there's this:

"An apparent illusion regarding the statue of native legend, Glooscap, is gone for good. The right arm of the 12-metre high statue, located along Highway 102 at the Truro Power Centre, has been removed. From certain angles and at times of the day the arm looked liked a male appendage. The arm will be repositioned and reattached before Christmas."
