My Most Pleasant Day In 2005

I had spent a week in September in Halifax for work. Peter came up later in the week, and we spent the weekend hanging around the South Shore. I hadn't been there in several years. I really love living in the Maritimes. I even love all the cheesey touristy lighthouse/ fishing boat/ lobster/covered bridge/buried pirate treasure/ Anne of Green Gables/Barrett's Privateer stuff. I can't imagine living anywhere else. I like exploring the area, though there never seems to be time.
We did Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay, and Lunenburg all on Saturday. I dragged Peter into every antique store, quilt place, and touristy gift shop in a 100 km radius.
We found Oak Island, but you can't go there anymore! I remember it was some kind of park when I was a kid. You could see the money pit, and there was even a gift store. My dad hid loose change under some rocks on the beach, and told me it was pirate treasure. He even hid a little shell-covered notions box for me to keep my spoils in.

We Hung Out In Mahone Bay

And checked out all the house porn, three churches porn, and scarecrow porn from the Scarecrow Festival.
We spent the evening in a totally charming bookstore-cafe, in the second oldest building in Mahone Bay, where it was ghost story night. We drank tea and hot chocolate and listened to ghost stories about the area, and people told about their own spooky experiences. It was a deliciously creepy evening.

We Spent The Night In Lunenburg

And saw the Bluenose 2.

The place we stayed at is supposed to be the oldest inn in Canada, if I recall correctly.

Peter was a little unnerved that night, after all the ghost talk.

Sunday, it was time to head back to Moncton.

Something I Finished

But it took me about two years! It's a cross stitch of different applique quilt patterns. I have three other matching patterns by the same designer. I've come to accept that I'll likely be in my 60's by the time I get around to stitching them.

Guilty Pleasure

I just can't stand that Nnenna. What a bitch! Actually, I don't like any of the models. They're all 18 and skinny. I have an instant dislike for females who don't have cellulite.
