Reading material

Sherman's Books is a really great little book and gift store in Bar Harbor (and Freeport and Camden.) I like to get something local in the way of reading material when I go somewhere, usually a cookbook and something spooky. This time I also got the new Linda Greenlaw, which I've been dying to read.  Books are way cheaper in the U-S.

Waah Waah Waaah!

In a nutshell:
Waah waah waah! Mommy is mean!
Waah waah waah! I'm not as rich as everyone thinks I am!

Waah waah waah! No takes me seriously as an actress because of Daddy!
Waah waah waah! My part in "Scary Movie 2" was mostly cut out!
Waah waah waah! People think I'm a whore just because Dean and I were both married when we hooked up! And I have absolutely no compassion for his ex wife, even though I stole her husband!
Though I must admit... it was kind of interesting, in a trashy, National Enquirer/People magazine kind of way. And I finished it, which is more than I can say for Love In The Time of Cholera.

I Read a LOT in 2007

75 books this year. That's not bad, considering how much time work and the Boy take up. I figure I manage to read as much as I did in 2007 because I read a lot of books I really liked, which always go much faster. That, and the fact that you can read while sitting or lying down.

A Good Book

I finished this a few days ago. Different, but very interesting and totally engrossing.
I can't wait for the last Harry Potter!

What I've Been Reading

The Lovely Bones - I just finished this about 10 minutes ago. I couldn't put it down.
Ragged Islands - The pick for bookclub tonight. Reminded me a bit of "The Stone Angel" by Margaret Laurence. Set in the Maritimes, partly in Shediac and Moncton. I also raced through this one.
Lullabies For Little Criminals - I was forced to read this for bookclub, and it's a good book, but very hard to read. It's about a young girl trying to grow up with only a moron junkie of a father to raise her, and there's foster homes, drugs, and lots of other fun stuff. I find this kind of thing hard to read since I had the Boy.

I Just Finished Reading This And I'm Still Teary-Eyed

This is one of my favourite books of all time.
I can't believe a man wrote it.
The pic is a beach in Wellfleet, where Dolores saw the dead whale. I insisted we stop there last year while we were driving through Cape Cod, just because of the book.
